I’m Katy - the founder + floral curator behind I V Y + S I L K.

My own journey didn’t begin with flowers. With a background in Psychology + Occupational Therapy, I spent years understanding people + children. But beneath it all, there was always a quiet pull toward beauty… toward the gentle rhythm of arranging, of styling, of interiors, art + flowers.

A short floristry course became the spark, followed by months of self-taught passion. In the UK, I created wedding florals alongside my work in OT - + slowly, what once felt like a side path began to lead the way.

Our move to Dubai in 2016 changed everything. The fresh flowers couldn’t hold - too hot + humid, too fast to wilt. Expensive. Fragile. Difficult to transport. And filled with pesticides - something that felt misaligned, as I passionately leaned into low-tox living.

The faux florals and trees I found were glossy, unnatural+ lifeless. Soulful vessels felt impossible to find. And so the seed was planted. To find better. To do better.

It began with a single Christmas wreath — the infamous piece we became known for. From there, we began thoughtfully + meticulously trialling stems, + I V Y + S I L K grew organically, one stem at a time.

Then came motherhood. My boys, XJ, all drive + spark – NC, gentle rhythm + pause. Their presence inspired me differently - + so I V Y + S I L K began to evolve.

When life brought challenge in 2023, I V Y + S I L K went still for a while. But it returned – through quiet transformation. This brand became rooted in resilience, motherhood, surrender, + hope.

We remain rooted in Dubai - drawn to its energy and rhythm - yet hold a quiet longing for slower days and countryside stillness amidst the pace.
